Well, as school is just around the bend and I have not released anything interesting this summer, I feel obliged to actually do something with flash for next year. So, how is this all going to work out? Well, lets start by canceling every game i have promised on the release date calendar. I have realized that my experience in flash is not even close to enough to just open it and try to wing an extremely complex project that i will end up canceling because of lack of knowledge. So this is my plan.
I need to come up with a new game idea(Brainstorm). Then I need to make the art. Then, I need to focus on the designing aspects. Then I need to focus on the programming. Then test. Then I need to debug. Then I need to retouch. Then I need too compile. Then compress. Then release.
B.A.D.P.T.D.R.C.C.R.
That is one lousy acronym. Whatever. So, since my lack of knowledge prevents my rushing into things, heres how long things should take.
Brainstorming(includes idea, story, and concept art)- 1/2 – 2 weeks
.
Art(includes character art, level art, etc)- 1-3 weeks
.
Design(level/overworld, battle systems, character, script [visual and sound aspects])- 2-5 weeks
.
Program(includes all programming aspects)- 3-6 weeks
.
Test(includes sending a .exe/.app file to those of u who wanna beta test and have you report any bugs/improvements I could make- This depends on your lazyness so anywhere from 1/2-5 weeks
.
Debug(fix bugs in the programming)- 2-5 weeks
.
Retouch(make improvements based on testing feedback)- 1-4 weeks
.
Compile(putting it all together)- 1 day – 1 week
.
Compress(making the file size smaller)- 5-10 minutes
.
Release(put on websites)- 1+ days
So at a minimum it should take me about 10 weeks 2 days and 5 minutes to finish.
At a maximum approx. 31 weeks 2 or more days and 10 minutes
So, this will take a while. And with school maybe even longer.
Point is, help me think of an idea plz
